The modules that are taught are Hip Hop, Modern and Ballet. These forms of dance are taken to examination level (optional), where the students are examined by external examiners as well as competition level (also optional).
We run with the SABOD (South African Body of Dance) syllabus for Hip Hop and Modern Dance. And we run with the ADA (Academy of Dance Arts) syllabus for Ballet.
Hip Hop is the umbrella term for all Street Dance Styles. The SABOD syllabus introduces the dancer to all the various styles. Styles that are taught are: Lockin’, Popping, House, KRUMP, Spujwa, Waacking, Old School, Jerking, Tutting and many more.
Hip Hop is normally very fast and needs to be danced with energy and style
Exams have various Exercises and Combinations in the different styles. Once a dancer has passed an exam, they are able to go up to the next level.
With the exam classes dancers can one day obtain their Hip Hop Dance Teacher’s Certificate.

Ballet is a Classical dance style and most dance forms have their roots in ballet. It is a very disciplined dance form and creates a very strong dancer. It is the most technical of all dance forms and any dancer who is serious about Dance should do this style as it is very hard to beat a ballet trained dancer.
Ballet is normally danced to classical piano music and can be either slow or fast.
Exams have various exercises at the barre and in the centre and different combinations. All Ballet dancers strive to become strong enough so that they can eventually go up on pointe shoes. Once a dancer has passed an exam, they are able to go up to the next level.
With the exam classes dancers can one day obtain their Ballet Dance Teacher’s Certificate.
Modern is a combination of two styles, Jazz and Contemporary. The SABOD syllabus gives the dancer an excellent background to both styles whilst also equipping them with the basic technique of dance. Jazz is normally to fast music and has many accents, isolations and dynamics. There is a certain attitude needed for jazz. Contemporary is normally to slower music and has a more expressive style with softer movements, contractions and beautiful lines. In the exams the dancers are also taught various Modern theatre styles such as: Bollywood, Grease, Footloose, Hairspray, Latino and African, to name a few.

It’s a very emotional goodbye for us. You have been the most incredible teacher to the girls and have taught them so much. They are more confident, strong and dance like rock stars, because of you. Thank you for your generosity and kindness during lockdown, your understanding with exams and for always being kind and caring. You have been such a big part of our lives for years, so I’m very sad that our time with you has come to an end. We will miss you.

We can’t believe how quickly our dancing journey has come to an end. It has been such a privilege to be able to watch and learn from you. You have not only taught us the skills we need to dance, but you have also played a vital role in helping the both of us become more confident. Thank you so much for all the wonderful years of movin and groovin. We wish you all the best for your career in dance. Thanks again for everything.
